Mo Diener

Mo Diener is a Swiss video and performance artist who has featured in several group and solo exhibitions in Russia, France, Germany, Egypt, Switzerland and Holland. Diener is taking part of Channel Too thanks to generous support from the Swiss Arts Institute.


FUR

Based in Cape Town, FUR is a multi-media company as well as an artist's co-operative. The Fur team has designed and is maintaining the Channel Too website. Their digital contribution to the exhibition itself comprises a collaborative piece created by Tracy Gander and Arnold Erasmus.


Valery Grancher

Valery Grancher recently participated in "On Air!" in France, the Deptford X Festival in London and "Street TV" in Japan. His work formed part of the original Channel exhibition, and Grancher returns to South Africa with his most recent video pieces courtesy of the Institut Francais d' Afrique du Sud.


Matthew Hindley

New media artist Matt Hindley studied at the Michaelis School of Fine Art and is currently working with VoodooTV in Cape Town.


Evelyne Koeppel

The year 2000 has seen Evelyne Koeppel's video art screened at group shows in France, Japan "street TV" project and the USA. Previously, her work has been exhibited in Israel and Mexico, and is known widely in France. Koeppel's visit to South Africa has been sponsored by the Institut Francais d' Afrique du Sud.


Lynne Lemofsky

Lynne Lomofsky graduated with a BA from UCT in 1980. She then completed a National diploma in Fine Art through the Cape Technikon with a distinction in painting. After expensive travels throughout Europe and time in Canada, she is currently completing a masters in Fine arts at Michaelis (UCT). Solo exhibitions include Recent work (Koffler-Loggia Gallery, Toronto, Canada, 1992) and the critically-acclaimed CANCER WARD LE:32 (Mau Mau Gallery, Cape Town 1997 and Rembrandt van Rijn Gallery, JHB 1998).


Adam Lieber

Lieber studied sculpture at the Michealis School of Fine Art, UCT. For a year he co-ran the small gallery, Mau Mau. He has been in several collaborative shows, including one with "Sleuth" on the JHB Biennale in 1997. For 2 years Lieber scratched and dropped samples with MoodPhase 5ive, then he co-ran 'The Art and Sound show' radio show for UCT radio. He has been DJing for 5 years and used to organise music events like 'Pickle', 'Geto3000', 'Scalectrix' and most recently 'Balearic'.
Adam is currently still DJing , making art, hustling, and producing music for various experimental projects. His E.P is due for release soon.


Vuyisa Myamende

Vuyisa is currently studying at Michaelis School of Fine Art; his contribution to the Channeltoo show is a collation of footage taped from recent television shows.


Serguei Nikokchev

Russian video artist Serguei Nikokochev he has been brought out to South Africa by the Swiss Arts Council. He has exhibited in St Petersburg, Zurich, Stockholm and Zurich he is currently working with Mo Diener and Billy Mandindi at the Greatmore Studios in Cape Town. Serguei trained at the multi media art skool INTERSTUDIO in St Petersburg through out the early nineties, and currently lives in St Petersburg and Zurich.


Malcolm Payne

Malcolm Payne currently teaches at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town. Payne participated in the 1995 Venice Biennale, the 16th World Wide Video Festival and in the first Channel exhibition. After showing at Channel Too, Payne will be taking part in the 18th World Wide Video Festival in Amsterdam in September 2000.


Peter Robson

Robson started projecting visuals to music at the Cape Town multimedia club "the Gel" in 1995. That year he succeeded in organising an early webcast from the club (two frames a minute!). In 1999 he joined Channel 69 as producer of music video programming segments (Deadtime) for E-tv. He has VJ'd alongside the likes of Salif Keita, Ninja Tunes, Honeymoon Suites, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, and others.
Robson is currently working as an independent producer doing short magazine inserts for TV and live production vision mixing.


Warrick Sony

Warrick has been busy working on various remix and producing projects at the Shifty Studio now based in Cape Town and has hosted Brian Eno's workshop in Cape Town for CAMA as well. A new Surfers album is expected early next year.


Gregg Smith

Gregg Smith is a lecturer at the Michaelis School of Fine Art. He has been involved in various art projects in and around Cape Town since 1991. He has exhibited widely both in Cape Town, Johannesburg and abroad. His Lovephones piece is a collaboration with artist and musician Warrick Sony.


Robert Weinek

Robert Weinek is active as a curator and general handy man of the arts. He is involved in the production and distribution of non-narrative South African cinema and avante garde videos. He is a founding member of the Public Eye Art Trust and is formulating and co-ordinating several art-based projects.


Mara Verna

Canadian-born artist Mara Verna has recently just completed a performance-based piece at the Observatory Museum of Contemporary Art. She is currently working side-by-side with Robert Weinek in the co-ordination of the Channeltoo show.


Edward Young

Twenty-one year-old Edward Young is currently working on various projects. He recently participated in "Emergency" at the Brendon Bell-Roberts, and is currently studying at the Michaelis School of Fine Art.
